As silversmiths, we are so impressed and delighted by the extraordinary exhibitions of American Indian jewelry and metalwork that have been initiated by the Wheelwright Museum and the remarkable collection of publications and archives on this subject that have been acquired during Jonathan Batkin’s visionary leadership. They are developing a major research center and have exciting plans for the future that every metalsmith in America will find truly inspiring.
This is a college prep program for Native American students that has a track record that is truly remarkable. It is a program worth knowing about and supporting and telling others about.
What’s not to like? This museum in Kansas City has a fabulous curatorial staff and a great American Indian collection! In a new exhibit space.
What would we do without this important publication? American Indian Art exists as a labor of love and we celebrate the dedication that publisher Mary Hamilton has given this singular magazine.
