Navajo Saddle Blankets: Textiles to Ride in the American West

Published by the Museum of New Mexico Press in 2002, Navajo Saddle Blankets was the first in-depth study of this important form of Navajo weaving. Lane Coulter served as the chief editor of the book and one of the eight contributing authors who wrote chapters on specific periods and styles of saddle blankets. All hgh workout of the weavings illustrated are from the collection of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe and Lane assisted in selecting a few additions to the collection so that the exhibition that ultimately accompanied the book would be more fully representative of this historic form.
